I had first heard about this book on Jesse The Reader’s Youtube channel, since it is such a favourite of his. It was one of those titles which stuck in the back of my mind and kept me thinking “I need to read that book!”.

It is safe to say that this book was one of the most interesting and enjoyable reads of all of the books I have read in the past few years! Not only does it stand out in the author’s unique use of photographs throughout the book, but also in the story itself. I had never read any paranormal books before.

I had my reservations about the main character, Jacob, at the beginning of the novel. I had thought that he might get on my nerves? But thank goodness he didn’t! As the story progressed I grew more and more attached to Jacob as a character, and also to Emma, one of the Peculiar children. Clearly there were reasons why Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children was chosen as the number one New York Times best seller!

I sped through this! Everything about the story was so gripping, I did not want to put it down! It’s eerie and creepy, yet it is full of feeling. The twists and turns in the plots kept me guessing. The world in which all of the characters exist is rich and extensive, and I am so looking forward to exploring it further with them in the the other two books in the series.
